Château-d’Oex is located at the heart of the beautiful Pays-d'Enhaut, a classic Swiss Alpine valley. Skiers and snowboarders throng the slopes in winter, and throughout the summer walkers follows centuries-old trails and create new routes through the mountains. All year round, the rivers and lakes of the region provide some of Switzerland's best rafting and kayaking. Others things to in the area include:

Inside the village, you will find lots of local shops, a cinema, a bowling center (french), and a discotheque (french).

 

The tourist office will keep you up to date with local events all year round.

 

Using public transport, you can reach the glacier of the Diablerets, the Castle of Chillon or the vineyard of Lavaux  ( UNESCO world heritage site) in less than one hour.
